Leafy and the Spring Parade Garden
CJ Coop

Leafy walked through the Enchanted Forest at first light. Petals dipped as she passed. Birds sang her name. She touched each flower with a soft paw and smiled.

Near the Palace Gardens, Leafy heard crying. A young hedgehog knelt by a flat patch of soil. The flower bed for the Spring Parade was ruined. Broken stems lay in the dirt.

"It was my job," he said. "I tripped. Now there is nothing. The Queen will be sad."

Leafy knelt beside him. She did not scold. She set her flower crown on the ground between them.

"Come. Let us help the garden breathe again," she said.

They pressed small seeds into the soil. A robin brought a string of blue petals. Two ants dragged tiny tools. A shy toad carried water in a shell. Leafy thanked each helper by name.

Dark clouds rolled in. Rain began. The hedgehog shook.

"Our work will wash away."

Leafy held his paw.

"Watch," she said.

They stayed as gentle rain soaked the seeds. Little green tips pushed through.

Word spread through the forest. Creatures came with more petals and leaves. Leafy moved slowly so every helper had space. She listened to their ideas. The hedgehog stood taller as he guided the line of fireflies to mark the path.

By evening, the bed shone with small blooms in a soft bright circle.

The Queen walked into the garden.

"Who saved the flowers," she asked.

The hedgehog stepped forward. Leafy stood beside him, quiet.

"Many friends did," she said. "We cared together."

The Queen smiled.

Leafy lifted her crown. Tiny petals drifted down around them, like the garden saying thank you.

Where a bright flower circle blooms, the forest remembers Leafy kindness, and new hearts open to gentle care always.

Discussion Starters

  • How did Leafy treat the hedgehog after the flower bed was ruined

Take Home Idea

Create a small family ritual called Fix It Together. When something breaks or goes wrong, pause blame and choose one gentle way everyone can help repair it so children feel the power of shared care, just like in Leafy’s garden.
