Talia's Hopscotch Fun
Rick Allen

During free play, Talia found the hopscotch squares chalked on the playground.

She stepped into the first square.  She jumped once. Then again.  Soon, she was giggling, her curls bouncing with every hop.

“Come on!” she called.  Some kids joined her. Then more.  They clapped and chanted, “Jump, Talia, jump!”

Even Miss Tara joined, hopping and laughing.  Talia tripped and fell backward and burst out laughing.  Everyone laughed with her.

Later, she whispered, “That was the best part of the day.”  Joyfulness isn’t about being perfect.  It’s about feeling the sunshine inside you… and letting it dance its way out.

What We Learned

Talia’s carefree play and laughter show that joy comes from connection and fun, even when you stumble.
