The Real Win
Rick Allen
Joey loved to run.
He trained hard, dreaming of winning first place in the big race.
On the day of the race, he ran as fast as he could, but he finished third.
Joey felt sad until Coach Parker patted his back.
“You gave it your all, Joey. That’s the real win.” Joey thought about it.
He had trained every day, learned to keep going when tired, and cheered for his friends. He smiled. Maybe winning wasn’t just about coming in first.
It was about becoming stronger and never giving up. Joey decided he liked the runner he had become.
